Domestic Adoption Placements
Since 1944, Bethany Christian Services has placed infants, young children and children with special placement needs into loving, Christian adoptive homes. During the adoption process, Bethany provides pre-adoptive family home studies, birthparent counseling, adoption preparation and education, post-placement services, ongoing consultation with the adoptive family, and interim infant foster care. Bethany offers complete adoption services for both the adoptive and birthparents.
For Bethany's domestic adoption program, couples must submit a preliminary application. Upon approval, families will be personally invited to one of our information meetings, which are held bi-monthly at our office.
Home Studies
Bethany's pre-adoptive home studies are widely recognized throughout the country. This assessment helps the counselor understand each individual family and provides the family with education about parenting an adopted child.
Domestic Adoption Fees
Adopting families are expected to reimburse BETHANY for the costs associated with services rendered. The adoptive fee of $23,000 assists with covering the costs related to all phases of the adoptive process including:
- orientation and preparation of the prospective adoptive family
- completed home study
- presentation of profiles to prospective birthparents
- evaluation of the appropriateness of a proposed placement
- provision of background information about the child
- ongoing support throughout the adoption process
- supervision of the placement, including reports to the court
- preparation of legal documents for the court finalization process
- maintenance of records on the child and family as required by state laws and licensing regulations

In addition to the Bethany fee of $23,000:
- Standard legal and filing fees of approximately $1,000
- An addendum fee of $500 for each annual addendum or to report a change in family situation or adoption plan
- Birthparent expenses in excess of $3,000
- Pregnancy related medical expenses in event that the birthmother has no medical insurance or fails to apply for or follow through with securing Medicaid or other insurance; as well as any amounts not covered under the birthmother’s insurance
- An additional $1,000 per additional child in event of placement of multiples.
- Interim care costs of $12/day if applicable
