Creating Family Portraits

Gallery of Hope -- A compelling Photo Gallery of children who need a family

There are 143 million orphans and waiting children worldwide. On November 9, 2006 Bethany supporters gathered to learn how one person can make a dent in a reality so daunting. It was a wonderful evening of learning ways we can respond to God’s call to make a positive and transforming difference in the lives of children.

The Parable of the Great Banquet reminds us that if we give a banquet and invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind, we will be blessed. Repayment will be at the resurrection of the righteous. We are the servants whom God commands to deliver a marvelous message of invitation, acceptance, and forgiveness. We must take our role seriously and complete our mission, no matter where we are.

During the week of November 13, 2006, Focus on the Family, Family Life, and Shaohannah’s Hope began a media blitz to raise awareness for the 143 million orphans and waiting children worldwide. Christians can change the world by putting their faith into action and by showing the world that every human being is valued and loved.

You can begin today to put your faith into action in so many ways:
  • Pray daily for the children without a family.
  • Pray for Bethany and other Christian orphan care organizations as they minister to children without a family.
  • Pray for more families to open their homes to children.
  • Start an adoption ministry or adoption resource committee in your church. *
  • Sponsor a child. Sponsorship brings children back to their families. *
  • Give a financial contribution to The Caring Connection Fund, which assists adoptive families with the cost of adoption. *
  • Adopt or foster parent a child. *
  • Shovel snow for a foster or adoptive parent, offer to babysit, or prepare meals for a family when a new child is placed in their home.
* Contact Bethany for assistance

November is National Adoption Month. Adoption teaches us more about the love of Jesus Christ than we can ever know—there’s no better way to get to know the heart of God than through adopting and caring for orphans.

Your partnership provides the opportunity for us to reach the world for Christ, one home, one child at a time.
