Nationally, Bethany Christian Services has been offering intercountry adoption services since 1982. In Minnesota, we are proud to give families the opportunity to provide loving homes for children around the world. For details on Bethany Christian Services’ current intercountry adoption programs and other international services, please visit the main
intercountry adoption services webpage.
Through our branch office in Plymouth, Minnesota and our satellite office in Willmar, Minnesota, we are able to assist local families with adoptions from any countries in which Bethany Christian Services has a program. Children who are available for adoption range in age from 3 months -16 years and may be generally healthy or may have special placement needs. The adoption process varies by country and can vary based on the type of child to be adopted. Many countries enable both healthy children and those with special placement needs to be adopted. However some countries specifically promote the adoption of children with special placement needs, or
Children of Promise (COP),
as they are referred to at Bethany Christian Services. Bethany Christian Services strongly believes that these children were created by God in His image, just as were healthy children, and we desire to see them join the families that He has chosen for them.
To read about the experiences of other families who have adopted healthy children or Children of Promise through the Bethany Christian Services of Minnesota, please visit the story links below.
In addition to Bethany Christian Services’ intercountry adoption programs, our Minnesota offices are also able to provide home study (adoptive family assessment) and post-placement supervision services to families who are completing an intercountry adoption using the placement services of an out-of-state agency.
We know that healthy, successful adoptive families are possible when the adoption process is handled professionally, parents are fully informed, social workers are experienced and available, and families are supported personally and professionally. Therefore, we establish parent preparation expectations and tools, as well as staffing, with that in mind.
