  • You will create a hospital plan with your counselor prior to delivery in order to inform everyone of your wishes.
  • You may have whomever you choose be in the delivery room with you.
  • You will have the right to stay in the hospital with the baby up to 48 hours after the baby is born.
  • You and your family and friends will be able to hold the baby, feed the baby, and bond with the baby.
  • You may choose to have the baby stay in the nursery, especially while you are sleeping.
  • You may name the baby or choose to write the name the adoptive parents choose on the birth certificate.
  • You may request that newborn pictures be taken and offered to you.
  • You may decide if your baby's birth will be announced in the newspaper or not.
  • You may request to have a private room without a roommate, if possible.
  • Your birthparent counselor will visit you in the hospital and support you during this difficult time.
