An interim foster care family is a Christian family who provides a loving, nurturing home for a newborn infant, allowing birthparents the time they need to be sure that the decision they make is the right one for the baby and themselves.

Some counties in Missouri require that the infant reside in a neutral foster home before the birthparents' parental rights are terminated. This period of time can be anywhere from a couple of weeks to a few months. The length of time a baby stays with a foster parent is usually dependent on the cooperation of the birthfather. During the foster placements, birthparents and adoptive parents often visit with the child.

If you would like to become foster parents for Bethany, please contact our office in Chesterfield. We'll be happy to explain the requirements and assist you in the licensing process.

Become an Interim Foster Care Parent for Bethany
Bethany is interested in couples joining our team who are committed Christians and have a healthy respect for all persons involved in the adoption process. Bethany does not reimburse foster parents for day care expenses, so most foster mothers do not work outside the home.

What does the licensing process require?
  • Completion of the application packet
  • 12 hours of training provided by Bethany Christian Services
  • Individual and joint interviews with applicants and all household members
  • A visit to the residence of the applicants which includes a complete inspection of the home
  • A total of 6 references (pastor, employer, relatives, and 3 non-relatives)
  • Child abuse and criminal background screening checks on applicants
  • Bi-annual physical exams completed for each household member
  • Annual TB tests completed for each household member
  • CPR/First Aid certification completed by the primary care giver (usually the foster mother)
How Can I Get Started?
Contact Bethany Christian Services of Missouri and express your interest in learning more about our foster care ministry. You will be mailed an application packet within a week.
