Child Traumatic Stress Center

  • Bethany’s administration of a child traumatic stress center is nationally-recognized by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network.
  • Bethany’s Child Traumatic Stress Center was founded in 2002 under a Health and Human Services (HHS) grant (Children’s Bureau) to establish Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) treatment for older adopted children.
  • Under federal funding in 2008 from HHS’s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Bethany expanded its services to provide PTSD treatment to children in foster care and their biological parents.
  • Both programs are part of research that contributes to a model of clinical best-practices using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for PTSD.
