Educational Requirements



Learning about adoption is exciting! As you begin your adoption process, Bethany wants to provide training that will serve to inform and prepare, reduce stress, ease transitions, and create a valuable and enriching foundation for your new addition.

The training consists of eight sessions. Session 1 and Session 8 will be held on Tuesday nights from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Bethany Office. Session 2 through Session 7 will be completed via e-mail or mail, your preference. Each session will target information and training in areas specifically designed to meet the requirements of the Hague Convention.

Session 4: Need for Early Detection and Intervention
Session 5: Affects of Institutionalization
Session 6: Becoming a Transracial or Multicultural Family
Session 7: Common Impairments
Session 8: Lifelong Issues of Adoption

Training Cycles 2009
The second training cycle begins on May 5, 2009
The third training cycle begins on September 15, 2009

*Please note that Hague requires 10 hours of training and all families must conduct on-line training before home study approval. Your social worker will provide further instructions for this training
