Bethany Christian Services Celebrates 20 Years of Service!
In 1987 a committed group from Second Presbyterian Church and Independent Presbyterian Church, under the leadership of Dr. Dick DeWitt, joined to establish a Bethany office in Memphis. The office began providing support, counseling and the life-affirming option of adoption to those experiencing unintended pregnancies. Comprehensive adoption services for couples hoping to grow their families through adoption were offered. The office grew through the years and began an international adoption program in 1995. In early 2000, Bethany joined a collaborative group of other agencies and provided adoption services for the Department of Children Services, specifically recruiting Christian families for children with special placement needs. This ministry area expanded and in 2004, Bethany, due to the generosity of Greystone Inc. and the Murray & Sydell Rosenberg Foundation, kicked off a foster care program, to provide loving, secure homes for children entering the care of the Department of Children’s Services due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. Our next area of service in 2005 has been through embryo adoption, giving young life a chance to be born. In 2006, a satellite office was established in Union City, Tennessee to more effectively serve the ten northern most counties of Tennessee. We are eager to see what the next 20 years will hold for Bethany! We thank the Lord for His provision and guidance through the years as hundreds of lives have been impacted. He has truly opened doors for service!

Mid-South Christian Services….Now Able to be Bethany Christian Services!
When Bethany Christian Services opened an office in Memphis in 1987, there was already a Bethany in Memphis…the Bethany Home. Due to the concern over two agencies having the same name, Bethany Christian Services was known in Memphis as Mid-South Christian Services. The Bethany Home is no longer providing services and agreed for Mid-South to regain the Bethany name linking us to our national organization. So, Mid-South Christian Services is now known as Bethany Christian Services of West Tennessee. Only the name has changed, office location, phone number, staff and all services remain the same.
