CONNECTIONS: Coaching Couples Toward Making Healthy Decisions About Marriage and Parenting
The two of you want what’s best for your
baby what’s best for your baby is the two of you!
Marriage isn’t just a good idea. When it comes to raising children, it’s almost always the best idea.
New parents want what’s best for their babies, which usually means that they want to do everything they can to see that their children have the best that they can possibly provide. In considering what is “best” for their children, parents may think about their finances, their living situations, their jobs, and what they will do about caring for their babies while they work. But sometimes parents overlook the baby’s most important potential asset of all...the relationship the parents have with each other.
What Is CONNECTIONS?
Connections is a free, voluntary program for couples or individuals who are in the process of becoming new parents or who have recently become new parents. The program is led by trained coaching couples who help:
Build stronger relationships and improve parenting skills.Reinforce healthy decisions
about marriage, parenting, and household management. Assist couples with
wedding plans and arrangements, when needed or desired.
Couples are not required to be married or to have plans to marry to participate in this program.
How Can Connections Help Me as a Parent?
A Bethany staff member will talk with you in a confidential setting about your concerns and
needs as an individual and as part of a parenting couple. Our staff will work with you to identify resources that may help you with the kind of parenting and relationship goals that you want to achieve. You will also have the benefit of working with a coaching couple, specifically chosen for you, as you work toward your goals.
What Does a Coaching Couple Do?
Coaching couples have only one objective: to guide and support you to achieve your goals as a parent, and hopefully, as a committed couple. Our trained coaches have the knowledge, information, and tools to help you. Like you, they have had to balance the challenges of being new parents with the challenges of maintaining positive, healthy relationships with the other parent or spouse.
Building Strong Families
Our trained coaches have been managing their marriages and other relationships, for a long time. Their purpose is to help you become the best parent and husband or wife you can possibly be. These roles are distinct and have separate duties and responsibilities, but the qualities that help make us good mothers or fathers contribute to making us good wives and husbands. They all connect, and, the better the connection, the stronger the family.
