Early Impact provides outreach, in-home counseling services to clients who, due to child abuse and/or neglect, come to the attention of Protective Services. The program is based on the concept of maintaining family unity by allowing children to remain in the home while decreasing the risk of future abuse and/or neglect.
Program Goals
- Empower and strengthen families
- Stabilize the family unit
- Eliminate future incidents of abuse and neglect
- Build stronger families to break ongoing generational patterns of abuse and neglect
Therapists
- Meet with families in their homes on a weekly, flexible time basis for an average of four months
- An emergency on-call number permits a therapist to be accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week

- Improvement of parenting skills
- Establishment of alternative methods of discipline
- Enhancement of self-esteem
- Anger management and stress reduction
- Recognition and control of addictive behavior
- Education regarding generational cycles of abuse and neglect
- Development of strong support networks
- Identification of services, agencies, and organizations within the community that can provide assistance as needed
