If you decide to create an adoption plan for your child, you have many choices available to you. It is your choice if you want to select an adoptive family for your child... and, how much information you wish to share with them. Some relationships are like extended family, in which you would stay in contact and see the child in the years ahead. The choice is yours.
You have rights…
South Dakota law requires that you wait 5 days after the child’s birth before signing a Petition to terminate your parental rights. A court hearing is usually held one or two weeks later—and that’s when the termination is final. Only one parent needs to be present at that hearing. We’re with you each step of the way.
You never pay for Bethany’s services. In fact, Bethany may be able to help you find resources in your area to help you with expenses related to your pregnancy such as food, clothing, and medical care. Our services are free to birthparents—always! And, we will come to you -- we can meet with you where and when you are most comfortable.
