U.S. as they prepare to receive a child from another culture or race, and they guide prospective adoptive parents through the additional steps involved in international adoptions. Bethany helps adoptive families through every step of the process: application, family assessment, preparation, placement and post-adoption services to make sure that the best interests of the child are always met.

When the adoption of your child is finalized, your journey together has just begun! Your child comes with treasures waiting to be discovered by his or herself, and his or her parents. Adopted children may be gifted with social, artistic, athletic or academic skills that will only surface when encouraged.

Personality traits different from those of your family may bring challenges that will take time to resolve. Especially with children adopted at an older age. Issues from their past can cause mood swings, test your unconditional love, or add other stresses to your relationship.

Newly adoptive parents need not be on their own. Bethany Christian Services has a support system in place. Adoption is a life long process which requires a road map to help cultivate healthy relationships. We have the experience and resources to help parents plan for challenges they and their child may face, and show them how their child's full potential can be realized.

International Adoption Fees*

  • Family Assessment (Homestudy) - $1,500 This fee is non-refundable. The family assessment fee is paid in two parts: $550.00 for the formal application fee; the balance is due upon completion of the study.
  • Post Placement Services - $250 Payment for post-placement services is paid upon submission of dossier. The first visit is made in the home; subsequent visits are in the Bethany office.

Additional Services
  • Administrative Fee - $3,000 This fee is to be submitted with the homestudy.
  • Liaison Services - $750 A liaison fee is paid at the completion of the homestudy.

Background Checks - $50 per person This fee is paid with the formal application.

Definition of Services
  • Family Assessment - A series of interviews with social worker. Written report is then forwarded to overseas agency.
  • Post Placement Services - A series of visits, with family after placement is made. The number of visits vary from country to country, with most countries requiring at least four. Written reports are then sent to overseas agency and/or court. Families provide a number of photos to be sent to the country at the time of each visit.
  • Administrative Fee - Processing of adoption through Bethany program. This includes all administrative office work and contact in the U.S., mailings, phone, fax, information and group meetings. Includes direct contact with overseas agency (phone calls, fax and other communication), complete support of out of country staff, out of country program expenses, orphanage support, assistance with travel and translators, and management of adoption program.
  • Liaison Services - Assistance with immigration processing, court processing, Interstate Compact and preparation of legal documents for the foreign country. In an independent adoption, we will assist with services with the liaison agency. This includes regular communication by telephone, fax, regular mail, and email. We will also assist with Immigration, when requested, and we will coordinate with Interstate Compact.
