Who We Are . . .
Bethany Christian Services of Northern California is a branch of a worldwide pro-life, not-for-profit adoption and family services agency with its headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Bethany's ministry began in 1944 when two women began caring for homeless children. Since then, our ministries have spread across the country and around the world. Our mission is to, "manifest the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by protecting and enhancing the lives of children and families through quality social services."
Our Beginnings . . .
Bethany Christian Services of Northern California began in December 1981 when a group of committed Christians petitioned Bethany's headquarters to open a branch in California. This grassroots group had a strong desire to provide licensed, Christian counseling and adoption services to women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy.

Bethany Christian Services of Northern California provides counseling and practical assistance top individuals affected by an unplanned pregnancy and to Christian couples desiring to adopt an infant.
 If you are a birthparent . . .
Bethany’s House is a Christian ministry for pregnant women, age 18 and over. This home was built for adoption minded women just like you, who are experiencing an unplanned or crisis pregnancy. We believe that each woman who lives with us is here for a purpose. Our mission is to help you feel safe and secure, help you nurture and protect the baby growing inside you, and help you prepare for your future. The staff who work here are committed to help you during your pregnancy and assist you with making your adoption plan. The goal of the program is to help pregnant women obtain safe and healthy housing, receive counseling and assistance in order to increase independent living skills, and make an adoption plan for their child. Bethany's House is managed by Christian staff. There is a live-in Program Manager, a full-time Case Manager/Pregnancy Counselor, and two part-time employees.

If you are a Christian couple who is experiencing infertility, but you strongly desire to be parents, Bethany Christian Services of Northern California wants to assist you in becoming parents through adoption. We will explain the adoption process, help you decide whether adoption is right for you, assist you in preparing to receive a child, and we will provide education about the life-long issues of adoption.

If you are a single woman or a married couple with a heart for orphaned children overseas, Bethany Christian Services of Northern California desires to assist you in becoming parents through international adoption. Our staff are committed to educating you about international adoption, assisting you with the process locally and oveseas, and supporting you and your child as you create a new family.
Our Beliefs . . .
Bethany Christian Services of Northern California, as part of the greater national ministry, desires to honor Christ in all we do. We believe "Every Life is a Promise," which means all human life has value, including the life of the unborn. Further, we believe that "making an adoption plan" for a baby is a positive choice for both mother and child when it is made for the right reasons.

Our Support . . .
Bethany Christian Services of Northern California is a non-profit ministry. Churches, individuals, businesses, and guilds that believe in Bethany's mission offer us their financial support. We receive adoption fees to offset these costs. We charge no counseling fees to the pregnant woman, to her parents, or to the father of the baby. Our ministry reflects our belief that a woman can best make plans for herself and her child when she understands all of her options and is free from pressure or financial obligation.
