Jeremiah and Kelley - Seattle, Washington
Dear Birth family,
We (Jeremiah and Kelley) would like to thank you for the life you’ve given your child. What a gift! We’re very grateful that you’d take the time to consider our profile, and we’re honored to be a part of your journey, even if it is only to encourage you as you read through this and the other letters you are looking at.
Our story began in Southern Oregon. We met at a friend’s house the Friday before the Fall Quarter at Southern Oregon University. The moment we met we both felt like something special had just happened, and from that moment we were drawn to one another, and as the weeks went by we fell in love. But more important than the romantic connection was this friendship that we found. We got along really well, we liked the same things and we could talk about anything. That friendship gets deeper with every passing year, and through everything God brings us closer together.
We’ve always known that God had a plan for us, and we knew it included having children and being a family. We just didn’t know when it would happen. We decided on a “five year plan” (Kelley was 21 and Jeremiah was 22 when we were married) we’d start trying to get pregnant after our 5th anniversary. Well, we’ve been married nine years now, so we’re four years late!
I tested Jeremiah on the having children thing long before we got serious, because I knew I wanted to be a mom, and so, I asked him to volunteer in the Nursery at my church with me. The first Sunday we worked there, about half way through the service I looked over and saw Jer sitting in the rocker with one baby over his shoulder and one baby in his lap, they were both asleep and it confirmed it for me, he was the man I would marry. We go to a different church now, but we still volunteer in the nursery!
Kelley says I’m a good playmate, I think it’s because I have a bit of a Peter Pan complex and I’m still a kid at heart. I want to be a dad. I get to play with our little friends, but I want to be the guy who has the little one running toward him yelling “Daddy!!!” I want to read stories at bedtime and say nighttime prayers.
We are active and like sports, especially baseball, Kelley likes to swim, ride bikes, cook, read and write short stories, and Jeremiah enjoys running, and working out at the gym, playing video games and playing softball on the church team. We both like to go camping and can’t wait to start family camping trips. We love to play with our pets, Chief a two year old Black Lab, and Abbey our four-year-old white and black cat. They keep us company and provide endless entertainment. We also enjoy movies; it doesn’t matter where we see them, we’re just as happy on our couch as we are in the theater!
The feeling we have about adoption is just like the one we had when we first met, there is something very special waiting for us, and we can’t wait to see what it is. When we were faced with fertility problems, we knew the answer to our prayers wasn’t in the Fertility Clinic. Adoption is our answer and we and our family and friends are so excited to see where this journey takes us! God’s faithfulness toward us has been constant. Every challenge we’ve faced with His help has turned out so much better than we’d ever hoped, and that is something we hope to share with you.
We pray for you, your baby and your family every night and we know you’ll find the right parents for your child. Thank you so much for choosing adoption for your child, your choice was brave and the most generous thing you can do for people like us, you put hope into our dreams. And you’ve chosen life for your child. And we think you are amazing.
If you’d like to meet with us to get to know us a little better and see if our future shares the same path, we would love to meet with you. In the mean time, we’ll be praying for you!
Sincerely,
Jeremiah and Kelley
