Process families go through to become a licensed foster family
  1. Attend orientation
  2. Contact Program Manager at Bethany to set up an application interview
  3. Family Assessment
  4. References from 3 non-relatives; water and septic testing
  5. Physicals on all members of the home
  6. Attend the PRIDE training

Qualifications for becoming a licensed foster family
  • Be of good moral character.
  • Complete state and local police and protective services background checks.
  • Be willing to provide care for children who are in foster care.
  • Understand the care which must be provided to the children, or express a willingness to learn how to provide that care.
  • Have enough time to provide care and supervision for the children.
  • Have a specific source of income, and be capable of managing that income to meet the needs of the foster family.
  • Be of such physical, mental, and emotional health as to be able to properly care for the children.
  • Be willing to work with a child’s birth or adoptive family, and be able to demonstrate that willingness.
  • Be able to assure the proper care and safety of children.
  • Be willing to comply with the licensing rules for foster homes.
