How You Can Help

You and your family can make a difference in the life of a child by giving your time, love, and commitment.
Time
Each waiting child has unique gifts to share. Some children are older and have been waiting for permanent homes for a long time. Other children are brothers and sisters who want to be adopted together into a family. Many of the children have medical, emotional, or developmental challenges that may need to be considered for placement into an adoptive or foster family. Families will need time, energy, and patience to help the children feel safe and secure.
Love
Faithfully One By One seeks people who will accept the responsibility of caring for the most vulnerable children among us. We also need individuals and families who can assist current foster/adoptive families by sharing their love, gifts, and talents to enrich the lives of the children and their foster or adoptive families. What better way to express divine love than to reach out and improve lives?
Commitment
Becoming a foster or adoptive parent is a commitment that can be rewarding and challenging. A family willing to commit to foster or adoptive care must be flexible and able to provide stability, security, and nurturance.
There are many ways that you can make a positive difference in the life of a child. We need people with different gifts and talents to help as the children have unique needs and interests. Most importantly, they need to know that you care.
Ways that you can make a difference in the life of a child:
- Provide respite care
- Provide foster care
- Adopt a waiting child or sibling group
Share your gift, talents, or skills with a child, adolescent, or young adult:
- Donate funds for music lessons, prom dresses, camp, class trips, or photographs
- Support a college student by inviting them for dinner or to stay with you for holiday breaks from classes
- Become a contact person in your community to get the word out about the need for foster and adoptive parents and to help coordinate support for current foster and adoptive families
- Volunteer as a mentor for a child who is going to college or beginning to live independently
- Donate services such as tutoring, providing haircuts, or tickets to a local event.
- Donate goods such as clothing, sports equipment, or luggage

We welcome other ideas of ways to support and help!
