Foster Care

Bethany Christian Services provides temporary care for newborns while their birth parents make a decision to parent or make an adoption plan. Infants are also placed in temporary care when an adoptive family has not been identified. In addition to providing lots of love and attention, foster parents are involved in transporting the infants for visits, taking pictures, following up with medical care and keeping a record of their progress while in their care.

Foster families love and nurture a baby as their own, while realizing their care-giving is temporary and they need to separate when the time comes. Such an important task requires much love, flexibility and a willingness to work with birthfamilies as well as adoptive families during this transition time in an infant’s life.

Foster parents should be aware that infants will be in their homes on a temporary basis. Foster care does not necessarily lead to adoption; however, foster parent adoption is considered in special situations.

Bethany Christian Services is a private, non-profit, child-placing agency licensed by the state of South Carolina. Foster homes are licensed upon the agency’s recommendation; therefore foster homes must meet the licensing requirements set by the state.
