Foster Parenting:

Characteristics of Foster Parents
  • willingness to accept the rewarding challenge of making a difference in a child's life
  • ability to provide nurturing guidance and discipline in a safe environment
  • willingness to work as a part of the Bethany Foster Care Treatment Team
  • flexibility with changes that arise in the foster care/social services system
  • openness to issues as they arise

Responsibilities of Foster Parents
  • to provide 24 hour care to meet all the basic needs of the child or children
  • to provide transportation for routine visits, medical, and therapeutic appointments
  • to maintain accurate records on each child placed with them
  • to participate in a minimum of 20 hours per year of educational opportunities provided by Bethany
  • to maintain frequent contact with the Bethany caseworker
  • to report to Bethany any illness or foster child emergency
  • to comply with rules and regulations set by the Colorado State Department of Human Services
  • to participate as a member of the Bethany Treatment Team
