Brent and Sandra - Seattle, Washington

Dear Birthparents,

We are Brent and Sandra and we are so glad you are taking the time to read our letter and getting to know more about us. We cannot imagine what you are going through, and have already been praying for you and your child. We are in awe of your courage, and our prayer is that God will give you peace as you make this decision. We always knew that we wanted to have children. After two years of marriage we were encouraged by our doctor to seek infertility treatment. We had no success at starting a family; this was a very trying time for us. We soon realized that our plans did not line up with God's plans. God's plan was for us to pursue adoption. We both have an indescribable peace about adopting and are very excited to parent and love a baby through the beautiful gift of adoption.

Sandra about Brent: Brent is the love of my life. After being married for over seven years and together for over ten, I can truly say that Brent is my best friend. We are able to do things on our own, but I love spending time with Brent. Brent has always and continues to put family first. When we first met, Brent did not have a college degree and knew that his job at the time was not the best one to support a family. Through a lot of sacrifice Brent went to college and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. With this degree and his job, Brent feels like he can truly provide for the family of his dreams. I also have no doubt that he will be a wonderful father. Brent loves being around our nieces, nephews, and our friend's children. Brent loves to get down to the level of the kids and be a kid himself. He also does a great job when he needs to discipline them. Brent has the ability to teach the kids whatever they want to know and can do it in a way that they understand. A child will be very blessed to call him dad.

Brent about Sandra: I have seen, for over 10 years, how Sandra cares for and nurtures children. She handles 30 seven and eight year olds each day, as a 2nd grade teacher, with grace that I can't fathom. She has great skill in getting each child's attention when needed as well as giving them the attention they need and deserve when necessary. Anytime we are out and run into any of her students, they run up to her and give her a big hug and show how much they care for her. This can only come from someone who shows them a certain unconditional love that is similar to a mother's love for her child. This is a quality that I value greatly in Sandra. I feel that she will be a great mother to our children, which was a quality that attracted me to her. I thank God every day for bringing her into my life and that we will be able to raise a child together.

Our Home: We live south of Seattle in a family friendly neighborhood. We can walk down the street to downtown and also to visit Brent's mom. We love that we can just step out our front door and enjoy the great Pacific Northwest! Our home is a 4 bedroom craftsman style home built in 1938. Over the past three years that we have lived here we have done a lot of updating to make the house our home. We have redone the back yard, painted the outside, put on a new roof, refinished the floors and painted the inside of the house. Yes, we did these all by ourselves, with the help of a few friends. Our goal in doing all that we have done, is to make this the best house for a family.

Our Life: When we are not working, we enjoy spending time with each other, our friends, and our family. We are both very active. We love to go for walks, go to the gym, or just head out on a day adventure. We also love to travel to visit family or just to relax and enjoy each other's company. Brent enjoys bike riding and participating in a variety of charity rides. He also enjoys home improvement, detailing our cars and cooking – Cajun food being his specialty. Sandra enjoys Irish Dancing, baking, gardening, and being creative with any art form. Our friends mean the world to us. We enjoy getting together with them for dinner, playing games, or just spending time having fun. If you were to ask any of our friends to describe us, some words they would say are: outgoing, involved, loving, and caring. Living close to us are Brent's mom, his oldest brother and family, and Sandra's parents. Whenever we have the chance we spend time with them.

Our Family: Brent is the youngest of 3 boys growing up in south Louisiana. Brent's dad still lives in Louisiana. Brent's middle brother lives in San Francisco with his partner. Brent's mom and oldest brother both live within 5 minutes of us. Brent's brother and wife have a girl who is 7 and a boy who is 3. Sandra is the youngest of 5 growing up north of Seattle, Washington. Sandra's brother still lives north of Seattle. Sandra's 3 sisters live in California, Illnois, and Kentucky. Her brother has one boy (10 years old) and 2 girls (7 years old and 4 years old). Her sister that lives in Kentucky has two girls (7 and 5 years old). Sandra's parent's live about half-hour away from us. Brent's mom and Sandra's parents cannot wait to have a grandchild close to them. Our current family also consists of our two cats – Minoux and Molly. They cannot wait until they have another friend to play with!

Through our experience with the adoption process, we have become humbled, respectful, and grateful for the opportunity to adopt a child. We will do everything we can to give our child the best life possible.

Thank you for taking time to read this letter and thank you for choosing life for your child. Whatever path God takes you on, please know that you are a wonderful person and God will always provide for you.
