Bethany volunteers serve the Lord and enrich the lives of others in many ways. We rely on people of all ages to help us help others by providing encouragement, boosting self-esteem, and brightening futures. In 2001, a team of 125 volunteers gave over 11,000 hours!

Volunteer Opportunities
  • Tutor - Help a refugee or domestic foster care child with homework
  • Mentor - Mentor via a one-on-one relationship with a child or teenage refugee or child/teenager in domestic foster care; Men especially needed!
  • Transporter - Drive clients to and from appointments; Mileage is reimbursed
  • Clerical Aid - Assist with special mailings, answering telephones, or data entry
  • Special Events - Help with Bethany-sponsored events, such as the International Festival or Golf Classic
  • Daycare Aides - Care for children while family members are being counseled in the family counseling center or are participating in special events
  • Lifeline (1.800.BETHANY) - Answer telephone calls from home to provide information about services for pregnant women seeking alternatives to abortion. Twelve hours of training are required. If you live in West Michigan, please call 616.224.7457 regarding this opportunity

Application Procedure to Become a Volunteer
  • You can email us to receive a volunteer application packet or download the application. If you send us an email, please also include your phone number.
  • Call 616.224.7523 to receive an application by mail and schedule an interview. Please provide us with your address.
  • Volunteers are asked to provide three character references and permit three background checks.

Donations Needed*
  • Complete beds (mattresses and frames) of any size
  • Children’s gently used clothing - sizes 0 to 14
  • New baby layette items
