Processing the Applications
Two international agencies work in the countries where refugees first escape to a claim asylum to process refugee applicants. These organizations are the Joint Voluntary Agency (JVA) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The JVA and IOM provide the inital screening, interviewing, and processing of cases for Immigration and Naturalization Service interviews and post-arrival out-processing.
