Service Opportunities
Here are some ways you can become involved in Bethany’s ministry. Please contact us if you need more information about any of these volunteer opportunities:
Help a Friend
You join in our ministry when you refer a woman to Bethany when she is facing an unplanned pregnancy or if you know a family who is seeking to adopt a child. Your vote of confidence and referral are integral parts of serving our communities well.
Pray for Bethany
Prayer volunteers regularly uphold Bethany board, staff, and clients in prayer. You may request a copy of our prayer guide or contact your nearest Bethany office about special prayer needs.
Find a New Use for a Seasoned Skill
Office volunteers help provide support so casework staff can concentrate on their clients. Office volunteers assist with mailings, help to answer the phone, do general word processing, maintain organized closets for maternity and infant items, and help with other projects or needs.
Board Service
Individuals with leadership and planning skills serve on the local board of directors or committees as we prayerfully review service opportunities, chart a course for Bethany’s future, and provide overall direction. Board and committee service also involve fund-raising, networking, and participating in benefit events.
Event Planning
Project-oriented folks can work with the board to raise funds though events such as a spring banquet, a golf tournament, or the Christmas dinner.
Consider Becoming an Interim Care Family
Families can provide temporary care for domestic infants while the birthmother makes a final decision about parenting or adoption. Your family will need to have a Home Study completed and can select the time frames you are available (summers, vacations, anytime, etc.).
Talk About Bethany
Individuals with public presentation skills are invited to help represent Bethany at health fairs, adoption events, churches, schools, and other public speaking opportunities.
Plan a Baby Shower
Church or community groups are great resources for preparing gift baskets for birthmothers in the hospital, take-home items for babies in interim care, or other “special touches” for clients whom Bethany serves. Call the nearest office to see what their current needs are, and then have a party!
Arrange a Meeting
Bethany’s board members and staff love to talk about Bethany and would like to do so in your church, fellowship, or civic group. We can provide special presentations during worship services; reports to groups within the church; bulletin inserts/covers for Sanctity of Life Sunday, Mother's Day, and National Adoption Month; or provide other Bethany materials for use/distribution.
Reach into Your Pocketbook
Our local Bethany budget is made up of 50% service revenue and 50% donations from individuals, churches, civic groups, foundations, etc… In short, our office could not survive without the generous support of people like you. Whether you are a one-time donor or a regular contributor, we’d like to have you join with us to be a part of what God is doing at Bethany. A gift to Bethany can also be a caring way to honor loved ones, both living and deceased. Your gift will help Bethany protect and enhance the lives of children and families.
Tell Your Story
Individuals who have been touched directly by adoption are often effective communicators about Bethany's ministry. If you are willing to share your story for the benefit of others, call your local office and set up a time to talk with an adoption specialist about your interest.
Serve As an Intern
Local college students can earn valuable experience working with our staff while also earning college credits. Call our office at 865.588.5283 for more details.
