Ed and Amy - Denver, Colorado
Hello Expectant Parents!
We are Ed and Amy and we thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about us. There are not enough words to tell you how much we appreciate your courage for choosing adoption. Your choice shows how important it is to you that your baby grows up in a loving and stable two-parent home. This selfless act is a wonderful gift – both for your baby and for a family like us who cannot have children. We want to provide a warm and nurturing home with lots of love and wonderful experiences. Our goal is to give a child amazing opportunities that prepare him or her for a happy and productive life. Most importantly, our home is grounded and guided by our Christian faith that will provide a strong foundation for our child.
A happy childhood is made of so many different things: a family that cherishes and adores you, friends that grow with you, schools that open your mind to the different cultures of the world, and fun and exciting times that make the memories you carry with you for life. These are the things that we want to give a child.
About Ed (by Amy): I knew when I met Ed in the fall of 2004 that my life was going to change in so many wonderful ways! I was immediately struck by how mature he was and how safe I felt with him. The first time we talked, we spent over four hours on the phone – and I felt like I had just met a new best friend. My parents have been married for over 35 years and it was really important to me that I also found a partner I could share my life with in the same way. Ed is definitely that life partner for me – and the best husband God could provide. Ed is a manager at an engineering firm near our home that builds parts for satellites and aircraft. His company is small, which allows him lots of flexibility in his schedule for family and volunteering.
About Amy (by Ed): I met Amy over 4 years ago and we instantly hit it off. I knew when I met her that my search for a lifelong partner was over. What drew me to Amy was her compassion for people, her intelligence and our uncanny ability to think alike. Amy is truly the rock of my life and I know that she will be an incredible mom who will love and support our child unconditionally, laugh and cry with our child, and nurture and educate our child to the best of her abilities. Amy’s love for God will continue be a big part of our lives. A proud graduate of the University of Colorado, she works as a critical care pharmacist at a large hospital in Denver. Amy only works four days a week now and plans to work even less once we have a child.
Our Faith is Our Guide: Ed was raised in a Catholic home and Amy’s parents are Catholic and Methodist. Both of us were raised with solid Christian morals that have served us well throughout our lives. In 2008, we became members of an amazing Christian church near our home. This has been a wonderful community and fellowship there has met our needs in ways we couldn’t have imagined. Group Bible study and supporting our church’s outreach to the less fortunate have really helped us grow in our faith. In addition to great programs for families, our church has plenty of activities just for kids including Sunday school, youth sports, and a full-time Kindergarten-8th grade private school. We look forward to raising our child with the same Christian foundation we were given – and we know that our church will help us do that.
Life with Us: We are so excited to be parents and feel blessed to have the resources to provide a child with all the things that will allow him or her to be successful in life. Our main goal is to provide a foundation of love, stability, and faith. Education is a priority in our home because we know how it can make so many opportunities in life. Care, consideration and support for children’s unique and individual talents and gifts are also critical for opening the world to them. We both really love to travel and have visited Italy, France, Greece, Croatia, Spain, Mexico, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Guam, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and lots of places in between. In the summer, we enjoy camping and visiting our country’s beautiful National Parks. We believe it is a great gift to expose children to the world around them and to many different cultures. We’re looking forward to traveling with our child and watching him or her experience firsthand all the places we love.
Our home is in a quiet neighborhood with lots of young kids. Our house has plenty of bedrooms for family and a huge backyard with a big patio, lots of grass to run around in, and space set aside to build a jungle gym. We have a large park just down the street with a playground and open space for soccer and football.
We share our home with our adorable Labrador retriever, Maggie, who really helped to heal our hearts after we found out we couldn’t have a baby. She is so loving and sweet and wants to be near us all the time. She loves little kids and will be a wonderful and protective pal for a child.
Openness: We completely understand that you may want to know how your baby is doing after the adoption. We intend to teach our child honestly about adoption and explain how they became part of our lives. We will tell our child about you and what a remarkable person you are for choosing adoption. We are definitely open to staying in touch with you in the future if you’d like that, too. Letters, cards, pictures, e-mails and visits are all possible and we will gladly work out a plan that meets everyone’s needs.
Thank You for Reading About Us!!
We would love the chance to meet you so that we can learn more about each other. We wish you peace and comfort as you make this difficult and important decision for you and your baby.
God bless,
Amy and Ed
