 Bethany of Central Pennsylvania is an affiliate of the State Wide Adoption Network (SWAN). As an affiliate, we complete child profiles for children who are eligible for adoption. We also conduct education classes, family assessments and post-placement supervision for families who wish to adopt an older/special needs child.
There are no fees associated with a SWAN adoption. Following an orientation meeting families attend a series of six education classes prior to filing a formal application. Once the paperwork is completed for the formal application (including references) the family assessment can begin. view class schedule>>
Families can decide whether to accept a child into their home as a foster child prior to the adoption, or they can choose to accept a child only when the child is legally free for adoption. In either case there is close follow-up by the Bethany social worker for supervision after the placement so that the placement is successful for you and for the child.
