Colombia
Welcome to the Colombia adoption program. Bethany Christian Services has more than 20 years of experience with Colombia adoptions.

Adoptions in Colombia are processed through
Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar (ICBF) or through private adoption houses. ICBF is the Colombian Institute for Social Services, a government agency that oversees intercountry adoptions in Colombia and has several regional offices throughout Colombia. ICBF or the adoption house matches a child with each waiting family. Bethany Christian Services has a full-service Colombia program, and we work directly with ICBF and the private adoption houses.
Children reside in government or private orphanages or in foster homes. Children are available for adoption either because they have been released due to an unplanned pregnancy or because they have been abandoned and the court has legally cleared them for adoption. A child may be available after being removed for protection due to neglect or abuse and if attempts to reunify the family have failed. ICBF or the adoption house matches the child and family. The waiting children in Colombia range in age from 3 months to 15 years. Sibling groups and older children are also available. Many of the children are healthy, but some children may qualify as
Children of Promise. The majority of the children may have some developmental or institutionalized delays.
