Amando a los Niņos Orphanage

In Guatemala, Bethany Christian Services is partnering with an orphanage in Guatemala City. Amando a los Niņos (in English, “Loving the Children”) was founded in January of 2006 by a Guatemalan family group comprised of a pastor and his wife, a social worker and a small business owner. Backed by many years of experience in provision of social services to abandoned, neglected and abused children, they plan to begin by caring for girls ages 4-7 years. As expansion becomes possible, they plan to add multiple family-style homes for children of all ages and special needs, begin an elementary school and medical clinic open to the community and establish a church in the community whose members will “sponsor” children and take the role of extended family.

Bethany Christian Services and Amando a los Niņos are partnering in the areas of child sponsorship, adoption and week-long mission trips. There are many opportunities for individual, group and church involvement and a need for in-kind and financial support as they begin to receive children from the Guatemalan court system.

Sponsorship Program
Bethany’s sponsorship program has been serving children in Guatemala since 1996, in keeping with our desire to offer support to children in their own country. Together we support individual children who have been referred to Amando a los Niņos by the Guatemalan court system because of abandonment, neglect or abuse.

A donation of just $25 per month covers the basic needs of a child and allows them to be part of a loving family and receive the care and education each child deserves. The generosity of sponsors throughout the United States makes possible their place in this loving family environment.

Orphanage Needs
As the orphanage is in its first stage of development, there are a variety of one-time as well as long-term needs. Long-term caregivers and English teachers (preferably 6+ months) are needed as are short-term mission groups to complete pending building projects. List of current needs
