It has become one of our favorite annual traditions to honor all Bethany graduates (both high school and higher education) in this very special edition. Plan now to send your graduate’s picture and biographical information to Kimber no later than July 15, 2008. Email photographs to

Bethany Moms Initiate Korea Homestay Program

Bethany adoptive mothers Ruth Buhrt and Heather Thompson have started
Asia Pearl to help Korean high school students study in America. The homestay program will help find safe, reasonably priced host families, allowing students to learn English in native speaking households. Asia Pearl will serve as advocates for the students, arrange for English tutoring, and provide shadowing experiences at various private high school in the Indianapolis area.

Tyler Storch Named Lilly Scholar

Tyler Storch has been named a Lilly Endowment Community Scholar recipient. Tyler, who was adopted from Korea through Bethany of Indiana, was selected from among 32 applicants in Franklin County. Tyler is the son of Thomas and Trudy Storch of West Harrison, Indiana. While attending Franklin County High School, Tyler was a member of the National Honor Society, Lifesmarts team, Spanish Club and was a Wilcat Kick-Off Mentor. He is a ten year member of 4-H and plays soccer and baseball. Tyler is also a deacon and VBS teacher at Macedonia Christian Church.

Tyler is now attending Purdue University, studying aeronautical engineering, with aspirations to become a NASA astronaut.



Ian Barrett Appointed by Governor Mitch Daniels to Serve as Student Trustee

Ian Barrett, son of Randy and Theresia Barrett of Edwardsport, Indiana, was recently appointed by Governor Mitch Daniels to serve a one-year term as student trustee on the Vincennes University board. A business administration major, he is a member of the student senate and is chair of Youth Leadership Knox County’s Project Graduation program.
