Recognizing that the severity of today’s orphan crisis is bigger than any one organization, Bethany Christian Services and other major pro-life Christian organizations such as FamilyLife, Focus on the Family and Shaohannah's Hope have joined together with a coalition of adoption and orphan care agencies to launch a long term, nationwide campaign called Voice of the Orphan. This campaign seeks to raise awareness of the need for the North American church to spur fellow Christians to action in helping orphans including consideration adoption. Orphans are children made in God's image of any age who lack the support and care of at least one permanent parent or guardian.
Highlights of this campaign include James Dobson's and Dennis Rainey’s daily radio shows, which will focus on this topic for the full week of November 13, 2006. Steven Curtis Chapman will be included with public service announcement played on Christian radio stations across the country, and Family Christian Stores sales flyers will be sent to 2.9 million people to promote the need to help orphans. All activities will drive people to a single website for people to see a list of agencies—including Bethany, with whom they can work.
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:
to look after orphans and widows in their distress
and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
