Guatemala Work Trip - Completed Fall 2006
Bethany’s first Guatemala trip was comprised of a group of 10 volunteers from around the United States, including four Bethany Social Workers from various Bethany branch offices. Working at Bethany’s partner orphanage in Guatemala City, Amando a los Niņos (in English, “Loving the Children”), the group showed their compassion and love for children in a tangible way, completing many jobs at the home and bringing encouragement to the orphanage’s founding family.

The fun continued during an afternoon to Antigua, an old colonial town with cobblestone roads, beautiful buildings and an incredible marketplace. The group also had the chance to take a beautiful hike up the active Pacaya Volcano where they saw flowing lava and a breathtaking view of the surrounding area.
An outpouring of in-kind and financial donations were received joyfully and tearfully. Many churches and individuals generously contributed to this ministry, enabling the completion of the last steps necessary to receive children. A legacy was left by this group that will impact many children in the years to come. A heartfelt thank-you to each of you who gave, making this possible.
