Looking Glass
Are you thinking about running away from home? Perhaps you're running now. Maybe you just need a listening ear -- someone to help you cope.
Whether you're running now or not, why not call the LOOKING GLASS? The people who answer the phone care about all your problems and will help you find answers to your questions. Call 1.800.292.4517
24 Hour R.A.P. Line - So where can you go for help? Call the Runaway Assistance Program line any time. It's a free call from anywhere in Michigan. R.A.P. workers will be able to have you talking with a counselor in your area as soon as possible.
There are a lot of hassles that both you and your parents go through every day, let alone when you run away. They call the police, who may spend a lot of time looking for you while your parents worry at home. Then you get mad at your parents for calling the police and feel frustrated because you're brought back home. Maybe your parents just don't know what to do. Getting help before you run avoids some of these hassles.
Counseling can help you and your parents learn to talk and listen to each other. Counselors can help you try to find solutions to your problems that everyone can live with.
Problems just don't disappear because you call a counselor. If, for some reason, you can't live at home until some problems are straightened out, temporary (2 weeks) foster care is available. This will be as close to your hometown as possible and your counselor will work with the school so your homework doesn't pile up.
