Branch Director: Paulette C. Holloway
After eleven years of serving God through the ministry of Bethany Christian Services of Maryland, I am still able to maintain my earliest feelings of commitment and excellence. Serving at Bethany has given me the opportunity to touch and be touched by the lives of so many. It does not matter if I am assisting with the reunification of a birthmother and her child; uniting an adoptive family with a waiting child; speaking a word of encouragement to a pregnant woman; or speaking to a group about the value of our services. Whatever my role, it is always one that makes me know that I have contributed to the value of life and not decreased its magnificent worth.
In the past 7 years (through December 2006) we have received 1292 intake calls from women in crisis, we have taken 294 infants into foster care, and we have placed 184 children through domestic adoption. 53 international children have been placed in the last 6 years, 12 of those were in 2006.
I have often been overwhelmed by all of the challenges that are associated with adoption and admittedly have entertained the thought to throw up my hands and walk away. I am humbled to say that God has always intervened during my moment of defeat and has sent me some miracle that has kept me going. I cannot tell you now which time his awesome power has been the most memorable because the experiences have been so rich. I can tell you that each experience has changed my life forever and has compelled me to stay in the race, giving my best to make a difference in the lives of children and families around the world.
In that same spirit, I look forward to serving you.
