Requirements

Age of Parents:
Each adoptive applicant must be a minimum of 25 years of age at the time his or her application is submitted to Bethany. Applicants must also be under age 43 at the time of application.

Length of Marriage:
Minimum length of marriage at application is three years; no more than one divorce per spouse is allowed.

Children in Family:
Families with up to four children in the home are eligible to adopt. Families with five children may not qualify to adopt a waiting child with moderate to severe special needs from South Korea.

Single Applicant:
Single applicants are not accepted.

Income:
Our South Korea program requires a minimum household income of $30,000. Additionally, applicants must also meet U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) Poverty Guidelines.

Travel Requirements:
Parents do not have to travel to South Korea to complete their adoption. However, travel is encouraged for adoptive parents. The majority of children are escorted to the United States. South Korean adoptions are finalized generally about six months after placement, but finalizations may vary by state.
