- Ages 30-54: may be assigned a child with special placement needs.
- Ages 55+: are not eligible to adopt from China.
Length of Marriage:
Minimum length of marriage at application is two years. If either of the applicants has a previous divorce(s), the length of the present marriage must be at least five years. Each applicant may not have more than two divorces.
Children in Family:
Families with up to four children in the home are eligible to adopt a healthy child. Families with five children or more in the home may qualify to adopt a child with special placement needs.
Single Applicant:
Single applicants are not accepted.
Income:
China requires a minimum household income of $30,000 to cover expenses of parent(s) and the adopted child. For each additional child in the home, the family income is required to be an additional $10,000.
Travel Requirements:
At least one parent must travel to China to complete the adoption. If you are not able to do a re-adoption in your county court, then both parents must travel. It is strongly recommended that both parents travel.
