An Awesome God: An Adoption Prayer
Dear Father,
What an awesome God you are. We praise Your name today and lift our hearts in joy and thankfulness.
We are thankful that Your hand has been on (name of adopted child) from even before s/he was born. Your Word tells us that You knit us together in our mother’s womb and that your eyes are upon us, even before we are born (Psalm 139).
We pray that your love and power may continue to be seen in (name of adopted child)’s life. We ask that one day s/he will personally testify that the Lord is good and that his/her new family has been a wonderful blessing in his/her life.
We are thankful that you have answered the prayers of (name of adoptive couple) for a child in their home. What a beautiful child you have given them and what an awesome privilege you have granted them. But we know that with every great privilege comes an awesome responsibility. Give these parents not only deep love for their new child, but also wisdom, courage, perseverance, and grace as they raise this child to become all that You intend him/her to be.
We also pray for the birthparents today. We are thankful that they chose life for this precious child. We are thankful that You led them to know that adoption was the best plan for their child. Give these birthparents a sense of comfort and joy in knowing that their child will be raised in a loving Christian home.
Above all, we are thankful that You have open arms to receive children into Your kingdom. For You said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom belongs to such as these.” Thank You for including our children in Your loving care.
