International Adoption
Bethany Christian Services currently offers international adoption of children from China, Colombia, Guatemala, Philippines, South Korea, Ukraine, and Haiti. As one of our nation's largest private adoption agencies, we offer expertise gained through more than a half-century of child focused services.
Bethany chooses its contacts in other countries carefully. We are proud of our International adoption directors - compassionate professionals who care deeply for each child. More than 5,500 international adoptive placements nationwide testify to our integrity. There are thousands of children abroad, some in institutions and some in foster care who are in need of permanent families. If you have an interest in learning more about international adoption, we would love to meet with you and discuss your international adoption options and help you decide which program is best for you.
A Story of Faith
Imagine what it would be like for a very young child to go from looking at a single room all day, to having what most of us would consider to be a normal life; one with parents and brothers and sisters for companionship. It would probably seem like a miracle. That is pretty much the experience of 16-month-old Faith Baird, a Russia-born child adopted by Terry and Janet Baird. Faith is the third child in their family. The Bairds have two older biological children, but felt their family had the love and resources to welcome a new member.
After searching the Internet and the local library for information about overseas adoption services, the Bairds decided that Bethany Christian services was the right agency for them. The Bairds were thrilled when the agency called to tell them there was an orphanage in Krasnador, about 600 miles south of Moscow. "An agency representative showed us a picture of her and we knew right away that she was the right one for us," says Terry. "She was about 8 months old at that time, and we adopted her 4 months later."
So began the trip that would take the Bairds from Atlanta to Moscow to Krasnador. When they arrived at the orphanage and had the first chance to see and hold their daughter, they knew all the working and waiting had been worth it. They named her Faith Natalya.
"I've had people ask me how I knew we could love a child who was not our own," Terry says. "But when we held Faith for the first time, we just knew there was no difference; the question wasn't how could we (love her), but how couldn't we?"
