Age of Parents:
Each adoptive applicant must be a minimum of 27 years old at the time his or her application is submitted to Bethany. Applicants must also be under age 45. If you intend to adopt an older child, an age exception may be considered.
Length of Marriage:
The minimum length of marriage at the time of the application is three years. If either of the applicants has a previous divorce(s), then a social worker will need to provide a recommendation. No more than one divorce per spouse is generally allowed.
Children in Family:
Families with up to four children in the home are generally eligible to adopt but will be asked to adopt a child with special needs.
Single Applicant:
Single applicants are not accepted. Only single applicants who have received pre-approval for a waiting child will be accepted.
Income:
Applicants must meet the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) current year Poverty Guidelines.
Travel Requirements:
At least one parent must travel to the Philippines to bring their child home. It is strongly recommended that both parents travel.
