Ethiopia
Age of Parents:
Parents' ages 25 - 50+ accpeted; per the U.S. State Department website, Ethiopia prefers no more than 40 years age difference between parent and child.
Length of Marriage:
The minimum length of marriage at application is one year, but five years is preferred, especially if there is a history of divorce. If either of the applicants has a previous divorce(s), then a social worker will need to provide a recommendation.
Children in Family:
There are no limitations based on the number of current children in a household.
Single Applicant:
Single applicants are not accepted.
Income:
Ethiopia requires that applicants meet U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service poverty guidelines.
Travel Requirements:
At least one parent must travel to Ethiopia to bring home the child(ren). It is strongly recommended that both parents travel.
