Requirements

AGE OF PARENTS:
Adoptive parents must be a minimum of 25 years of age (30+ years is preferred) and no more than 48 years at time of application. The maximum age difference between the parent and child is 45 years, and the minimum age difference is 18 years.

LENGTH OF MARRIAGE:
The minimum length of marriage varies. No more than one previous divorce per spouse preferred.

CHILDREN IN FAMILY:
The accepted number of children in the home varies. However, families with no children, or no more than 3 children, are preferred.

SINGLE APPLICANTS:
Single women of Lithuanian heritage are eligible to adopt children over the age of 6. Single women without Lithuanian heritage may be considered for Children of Promise.

INCOME:
Lithuania follows the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) requirements for income.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Two trips are required. Both parents must travel for the first trip to complete the court process. One parent can make the second trip to complete the immigration process. Both trips are 7-14 days.
