International Adoption


Bethany Christian Services has been providing International Adoption services in the West Tennessee area since 1995. Nationally, our parent agency - Bethany Christian Services - has been placing children from other countries since 1982. Bethany's social workers are experts in the field of international adoption. They are well-versed in the requirements of the State of Tennessee, the court system and Immigration Services, and they possess the necessary expertise that so often makes the difference in having a successful adoption.

Children adopted from other countries need to develop an understanding and acceptance of their rich cultural heritage. During the home assessment process, the adoptive parents learn ways to address this issue, how to deal with adjustment problems, and how to assimilate cultural awareness into a family's life. Once the child arrives, Bethany offers post-placement services. With their extensive experience, our workers can offer the necessary guidance and help to support the adoption.


Ways to Adopt

  • Through Bethany Christian Services: We have overseas resources in various countries throughout the world. Specific requirements and availability of children are addressed in our general information packet.
  • Independently: Those involved in independent adoptions work with another agency or resource in locating a child. Others work directly with a foreign country.

    With either program, Bethany provides the home assessment and post-placement services. We also provide optional consultation services.
Fees
Bethany charges according to the services provided. Families may select the services they need: home-study, post-placement and/or consultation services. For families adopting through Bethany programs, there is an additional program fee.

Who can Adopt?
Families who can provide a stable, nurturing and secure environment for a child are welcomed applicants to our international adoption program. Couples who have been married at least two years as well as single persons are eligible to adopt through Bethany's international adoption program.
