In every country Bethany works in, there are very special children who are waiting for a home. These are our Children of Promise! There is something in their life that requires a special family for them.

Who are these children?

  • Infants, Toddlers, and Children who have medical conditions (many surgically correctable).
  • Children who are older (especially ages 8 - 16)
  • Infants, Toddlers, and Children who were born premature.
  • Children from one family who must be placed together (sibling groups)
  • Children who are physically, emotionally, behaviorally, or mentally challenged

Adopting a child is a lifelong commitment that can be challenging and rewarding. A family adopting a child with special needs must be strong, flexible, and able to provide stability and security in a nurturing environment. The family must also advocate for their child and be willing to use community resources.

You can adopt a child with special placement needs if you are single, married, or divorced; live in an apartment; or have a modest income; already have children or will be a new parent. Additionally, many children benefit from experienced, older parents. Our goal is to find the best family to meet the child's needs.

Special needs adoptions begin with the same home study and family assessment fees as a typical adoption. Depending on your child’s classification of need they are often eligible for many grants and subsidies which reduce of eliminate the additional fees. Outside organizations that provide financial support for adopting families are usually most happy to finance a special needs adoption if needed. Do not let finances stop your child from coming home.
