Adopting a Child Out of Foster Care
What is foster care adoption?
More than 400,000 children in the United States are living in foster care and over 100,000 of them cannot return to their birthfamilies because of past abuse or neglect. These precious children are yearning for a lifelong family who will surround them with love and care.
Is there room in your heart and home to adopt a child in foster care? You can give a child who is living in foster care or other temporary arrangements the gift of a forever family. Many of these children are waiting to be adopted as a sibling group. They have experienced hurt and hardship in life. More than anything, they need a loving, caring, permanent family.
What does foster care adoption cost?
If a child is in the foster care system, adoptions are usually state-funded. Medical and financial subsidies are available until the child turns 18.
N.O.W (No One Without)
We have a crisis in this nation affecting our youth—the future leaders of our country.
The N.O.W. (No One Without) campaign is an initiative to make sure that no child goes without a loving family. Nationwide, an average of 23,000 youth “age out” of the foster care system every year. Over half of these youth lack a high school diploma and within two years, 30% experience homelessness or incarceration. More than half of the young women will have children who also enter the foster care system and the cycle continues.
We cannot allow this to continue. Together, we can change this, and we must do so NOW!
Can you provide a permanent home to a vulnerable child in Georgia?
Children in foster care live without the loving support of a permanent family to depend on. Many of these children "age out" of the system without that forever family to call their own. Could you be that family for them?
