Mrs. Baudin, IBESR Director, has been promoted to Minister of Social Affairs under the new Prime Minister's government. We are very sad to hear that she will be leaving IBESR.
Mr. Claudy Gassant has resigned his position at Parquet and is now serving in the Dominican Republic. We do not know how the new commissioner over the Parquet will compare to Mr. Gassant, but we pray adoptions will start moving along quicker now.
Dossiers have been coming out of MOI in about 2 to 2 1/2 months recently. This is a great improvement over last year at this time. We pray that the improvement continues and eventually the dossiers will only take 4 to 6 weeks!
We still have some dossiers that have been in IBESR for some time. The lawyers are working on them and hopefully they will be signed before Mrs. Baudin leaves her position in IBESR.
We have had to hire a private investigator to find some parents that have not come to visit their children for many months. The Parquet is requiring the parents to come for an interview as is the US Government for all American adoptions. This is an additional cost to the orphanage and is not always successful. We are thankful that he was able to find two parents and bring them today, so we are hopeful that he will be able to find some more in the next few weeks.
We have had a good response from American families coming to Haiti to file their I-600. We feel this will help the visa process to go much quicker so that the children can be united with their forever families faster.
We are receiving new admissions as children go home to their forever families. Two babies have come today and two came last week. Other children are finally almost ready to be proposed and only need their psychological reports done and we can start sending out proposals.
