It is exciting to have families moving forward in Russia once again. Accredited agencies are receiving referrals and a Bethany family is currently in Krasnoyarsk meeting their young son this week. We continue to work with independent families in St. Petersburg region where another family has traveled in October to meet a sibling group.
Ten Bethany families have referrals and six of them have made their initial trip to visit their children.
There are an additional nine dossiers in Russia waiting for referrals of children and twenty more families in process of working on documents.
We can accept more families for home study at this time and have a particular need for families who can consider boys, older children or children with special needs. Many Russian families have come forward to adopt or take into foster care the younger and healthier children from the orphanages and most of these are girls. The number of young and healthy children for international adoption is less than before but so many other children continue to wait for a family. Please consider if your family could open your heart and home to one of these little ones.
