Five families are dossier ready to adopt from Ukraine.  Three of these families are planning to adopt older and/or special needs children.  Two more families are in home study or dossier process.  Dossiers for special needs children can usually be submitted to the SDA without waiting in line.

In the previous post (June 3) the statement was made that "Ukraine is accepting dossiers only for older and special needs children".  This was not meant to discourage families from applying to Bethany and completing a dossier for a child not in this catagory.  We would encourage families to begin the process for Ukraine for all children and we will have their dossier ready to submit as soon as the SDA indicates they will accept more families.  Any dossiers submitted from this time on will be for an appointment in 2009.

Ukraine is a good opportunity for families who can be more flexible.  Most families will travel within a year of dossier submission.  They can request to adopt a child from the age of 3 or 4 and up to 15 years of age.  We can accept several more families for this country.
