Bethany Christian Services is a not-for-profit, pro-life, Christian adoption and orphan care agency supported through reimbursement for services and gifts received from individuals, churches, corporations, and foundations.
Bethany opened a branch office in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in May 1982 at the invitation of a crisis pregnancy center that had served the area in the late 1970s. That center, known as "Choose Life," wanted to provide a wider range of pro-life services that included adoption.
The Bethany Knoxville office, once a satellite of the Chattanooga program, was established in 1991 and became a separate Bethany branch office in January 2005. In early 2009, Bethany of East TN opened a permanent office in the Tri-Cities area to better serve children and families in that region of the state.
For more than 65 years, Bethany has been restoring, preserving, and building families through a comprehensive range of therapeutic and adoption services. With more than 75 offices nationwide and international ministries in more than a dozen countries, Bethany touches the lives of more than 30,000 people each year.
