Give a child the opportunity for a family and a future.

Open your heart to a child in need through Foster Care

Do you have room in your heart and home for a child in need?

These children need a loving family who will walk with them during a time of crisis and welcome them unconditionally into a caring home. The goal of Bethany’s Foster Care program is to provide temporary care for children with the ultimate aim of reuniting them with their biological family or while finding an adoptive family for those whom reunification is not an option. Toward that goal, we seek stable families who can show love to children who are going through a challenging time.

Children in foster care have been removed from their families because of alleged neglect or abuse. They are placed with Bethany foster parents who can meet their need for a loving and supportive home environment. The children are in the legal care of the State but, like every child, they need a family to care for them.

Children range in age from infants to teenagers and typically remain in your care for at least a few months. They come from many different ethnic backgrounds. The highest-priority need is for foster homes for sibling groups and children from minority groups.

You can help.

Reach out to a vulnerable child to offer temporary foster care. Our greatest need is for foster and adoptive families to accept sibling groups of two or more children up to age 17. Could your family welcome these children into your family, even for a short time? Please consider sharing your home and your heart to bless these children in crisis.

Have you considered older child adoption?

There are more than 100,000 children in the foster care system who are available for adoption. Could you be their forever family?

What qualities does a foster parent need?

Foster parents need to have positive parenting skills, patience, stability, maturity, and a love of children. It is also helpful to know and understand childhood development. Foster parents work with staff from community agencies toward identified goals for the children in their care.

Responsibilities: What to expect.

Foster parents provide shelter and emotional and physical support to the children in their care. You will work as a team with Bethany, striving toward a common goal of family reunification. Foster parents are expected to develop a positive relationship with the biological parents. There are rules, regulations, and policies that you will be required to follow. Your flexibility is key in accommodating the need for regular visitations, providing transportation to counseling appointments, and attending community meetings.

Benefits of fostering through Bethany:

Bethany is committed to supporting foster parents like you. Foster parents participate in orientation and hours of training on child development and resources for parents. We offer ongoing supervision and support visits by a trained Bethany caseworker, plus regular educational training and support meetings, 24-hour crisis intervention services, and respite care as needed. Monthly reimbursement rates will be based on the level of care that you provide. Medical and dental care for all foster children is paid through state Medicaid programs.
