Give a child the opportunity for a family and a future.

Colombia
In Colombia:
Colombia hosted one of Bethany’s first international adoption programs in 1982 helping hundreds of children be placed in forever families. Today Bethany also partners with Amici de Bambini, an organization that supports children’s educational and basic needs. Bethany is also supporting a project with another local organization to help children in the Choco region with education, socialization, and basic needs. And, with your help, we have raised funds to build a school in Chiquitines. In Colombia Bethany works with:
- Adoption
- Family preservation and support services
Our greatest needs in Colombia right now, are to raise more funds in support of in-country community projects and to go toward Caring Connection grants for children with special placement needs. Your gift can help bring a family together.

Adoption requirements in Colombia:
Each adoptive parent must be between 25 and 55 years of age. Single women may apply to adopt children who are 7 years or older. Families must meet U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service income requirements and demonstrate financial stability.
Both parents must travel to Colombia to receive their child. One parent must remain for the entire process, which can take at least six to nine weeks. You must have a U.S. passport and a Colombia adoption visa to travel to Colombia. If you are considering international adoption, visit our international adoption page or download the adoption guide. If you are ready to take the first step, begin by completing the preliminary application.

About Colombia:
Located in the northern part of South America, Colombia is the only South American country touching both the Caribbean Sea and the North Pacific Ocean. Colombia is situated between Panama, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Panama. Illicit drug production and trafficking remain a critical and detrimental issue in Colombian society, creating many refugee and vulnerable families.

Global children's fund:
This fund is designed to provide a way to meet the most urgent global needs. For millions of orphans worldwide, extreme poverty and medical crisis are a life or death, and seemingly hopeless, situation. With your help, through the Global Children's Fund, we are able to meet many children's and families' most critical and urgent needs in a timely and relevant fashion. Together we can give a child hope for a future.
