Sponsor a child or a family in need:

Can you extend a hand in love to a child or family
in need? Families and communities benefit in
tangible ways from sponsorship. Through Bethany,
your money provides direct and specific care
based on the individual needs of a family. When
you sponsor through Bethany, you will join a group
of sponsoring individuals to provide the level of
care that is needed.

Adoption requirements in Ethiopia:

Adoptive parents must be between the ages of 25 and 50 (parents can be older, but they just need to be open to an older child; 50 is not the cut-off age), with no more than 40 years of age difference between parent and child (this is a country preference and not a hard and fast rule). Couples must be married for at least one year but at least
five years is preferred. Single women are welcome to apply. Families must meet U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service income requirements.

Two trips to Ethiopia are required. Both parents are required to make the first trip where the adoption will be finalized. For the second trip, only one parent is required to travel. It is strongly recommended that both parents travel. You must have both a U.S. passport and visa to enter Ethiopia. If you are considering international adoption, visit our international adoption page or download the adoption guide.  If you are ready to take the first step, begin by completing the preliminary application.
