What does it cost to adopt?

Many people think that it is very expensive to adopt. Adoption may be more affordable than you think. Bethany has helped thousands of people achieve their dream of adopting a child. Thanks to our generous donors, we have been able to cover an average of 40 percent of the cost of an adoption. In most states, we use a sliding scale based on your yearly income to determine fees. Through Caring Connection, we can also offer you grants for adopting children with special needs. Bethany also offers adoption loan programs that can help provide funds in the early stages of the adoption process.

Our goal is to help each child find a loving forever family, and we are committed to working alongside you to help discover ways to finance your adoption.

Adoption tax credit:

The Federal Adoption Tax Credit of up to $13,170 is available to your family, depending on your income. Your state may have a state tax credit or deduction as well, in addition to the federal tax credit. Ask your tax advisor about how these credits may apply to your family’s taxes.

Other grants and subsidies:

If you are active duty personnel in the military, you can qualify for grants and subsidies toward adoption.

Southern Baptist pastors can also qualify for a grant through The Adoption Fund for Ministers.

Check with your employer about adoption benefits that may be offered through your workplace.
