Bethany Christian Services Announces New Partnership with the Pennsylvania State Correctional Institution in Cambridge Springs

MEADVILLE, PA – Bethany Christian Services today announced a partnership with the Pennsylvania State Correctional Institution in Cambridge Springs, which includes multiple programs designed to ensure women who are incarcerated are equipped for life after prison, ultimately leading to restoration with their families.
“At Bethany, we believe everyone deserves to be safe, loved, and connected. We’re thrilled to announce this partnership with the Pennsylvania State Correctional Institution as we work together to empower the women with tools such as relational skills, educational opportunities, and health education to help them adjust back into their homes after they leave prison and reduce the chance of recidivism,” said Lesha Powell, Satellite Director at Bethany Christian Services of Meadville. “We believe these programs will lead to restoration for families as we walk alongside women creating independence for themselves and empowering them with hope for their futures.”
Created to equip women with tools that will strengthen their families, programming includes trauma-informed parenting classes, relational skill building lessons, health screenings and reproductive care skills, and a safe space for women to process previous traumas with recovery specialists to help break negative generational parenting patterns in their life. This partnership originally started in 2022.
“We’re proud to partner with Bethany Christian Services as we serve our Cambridge Springs community alongside one another. We believe knowledge is power and that it is crucial to equip women with the resources necessary to thrive,” said Michelle Overmyer, Superintendent of Cambridge Springs. “Power, or the sense of power, transmits hope. Through education and empowerment, these women are returning to their communities with skills and strategies to help them navigate their lives.”
